Our Story & Mission

Welcome to Myrtle Wombat, a play on words Henry came up with while driving up Myrtle Ave. one day listening to the Mortal Kombat theme years before the store was even a twinkle in our eyes.

Myrtle Wombat is an homage to the convenience stores in Taiwan, Japan, really all over Asia, but with a specialty twist. We carry many emerging brands from minority and women founders alongside Asian pantry staples and prepared foods we make fresh daily. We also have a noodle bar/matcha bar in the back!

A bit about us:

Jen was a specialty food buyer for a big box store and managed supply chains for a big chocolate company years ago and went on to help entrepreneurs open and scale restaurants and other specialty food markets in NYC/Brooklyn. Henry works a 9-5 to hold it down until, hopefully one day, MW can sustain us both! We started this venture because our neighborhood was lacking Asian products and goods, after the only Asian market in the area closed, and if we can make other businesses grow, why not us?

We hope you feel a sense of fun discovery at our store. We just love products and each item is selected with loved ones on our minds.
